Why is everybody trying to live the footballer's wives lifestyle?

How many people would have things to brag about if there was no such things as credit cards and loans and mortgages?

  1. Not everybody follows that craven path of materialism. It's a personal choice based on Free Will.  Either you have the honor to be your own person and step aside of garbage like materialism and consumerism or you do not.  It's not the temptor or temptation that is morbid.  It is the individual who lacks the guts of Free Will that is the problem.   I haven't even been in a store in over four years.  No credit cards.  They are evil.  No debt.  No greed.  Just nature and time and good health and balance.  People will never stop, exactly, being materialistic until they are not so afraid all the time.  It is fear that makes people so craven.  Beware governments and commercial interests that deliberately build up "fear factors", like Bush's color-coded "fear" chart on tv everyday for "terrorist threat" level of danger.  Keeping people fearful is part of fascist animal husbandry and part of a psychological manipulation to make people buy more stuff that they do not need, to feed the hogs who profit from gluttony and materialism among the human sheep.

  2. they will stop when the credit card has reached its limit and they find themselves living over there means...and now they live from check to check...and all the bills are falling behind..and now they had to let everything go, like repo's and foreclosure on the homes...and then it is a wake up call..

and it all starts with those credit cards, buy now, pay later..can't pay it off, well then we will hit you with this 25% interest rate..oh boy...bragging is no more..

  3. a very good point.........I have never tried to live beyond my means,,our cars are 22 years old,,,,,credit cards are used for emergencies only, not vacations, or clothes. the time will come when people have to pay the credit bills

  4. I don't really think you can blame the people we have been culturally conditioned to think material things give us a greater status and capital is our value system and other people acknowledge materialism as a valued status. This requires changes within our culture and government. Perhaps environmental changes will bring about change as we all become more conscious of waste and exploitive lifestyles.

  5. never!! as the years go by they will be more materialistic things than ever!

  6. footballer's? uhm, incorrect. sry.

    answer to your question:

    *NEVER!!*

  7. never....it will just get worse

  8. I dont think people will ever stop being materialistic it is the sign of the times unfortunately

  9. i'm sorry to say that people will never stop being so materialistic, it's a fact of life, and we can't do anything to stop it, so, live like i do, and just smile at them and feel sorry for them!!! :-)

  10. when they learn that happiness comes from within, not from anything outside of ourselves.

  11. Watch TV sometime and tell me what the commercials are--Visa  "live life to the fullest" or some such nonsense--Mortgage companies selling the idea of second loans, car companies with 0% financing (till it's time to pay).  Most of American business revolves around debt, not production. People are encouraged to be debt slaves.

  12. People WILL stop being materialistic, but not by choice, they will have no choice. Nature will decide it.

I fear we have left it too late to alter the effects of global warming.

Are you aware of the Gulf Stream / Arctic Conveyor problem?

If this continues, Britain & Northern Europe could be plunged into another Ice Age.

Then we will have more pressing problems than credit cards, loans, mortgages or......footballer's wives!

  13. not until we have to

  14. People, well some people will stop being materialistic when they find others will love them for who they are and not what they got.  The problem is that there is always someone out there who admires a person for what they own.  Those who crave this attention will buy and own more, because others love them for it.

Its a poor form to have others admire people for such practices.  Its best I think that those who suffer from this activity, should learn to love themselves rather than reaping havoc on their finances.

As long as there are rewards for banks and businesses, then this kind of vampirism will continue.

  15. now i prefer dont care about others, i try to be comfortable with myself: be good for my friends, be more forgivable person. You can't change the world. Stupidity is a part of our lives.

  16. Probably never.

I would rather have 12 good friends than 12 good credit cards.

  17. I guess when the material runs out - as soon as oil stops and people cotton on that climate change is real.

I was wondering if the phenomenon is like the last days of any empire.

I haven't had anything most of my life, and have missed out on a certain feeling of security, and also status in the world so it could be when we start giving more status to people who don't need things to prove their status.

But I don'thtink that is going to happen - the media and capitlaism in general has too much to lose by us becoming a spiritual world.

  18. In all probability - it will never stop.

That is, until the end of time.
