  1. You should look at the website I put below....

  2. Most Americans work four full months out of the year to pay their income taxes.

Taxes are too high when households have to sacrifice their standards of living in order to fill the government coffers.

  3. when you realize that inflation is passing your income and the taxes that are being taken do nothing towards solving the problems you voted on to change.

  4. In working for the Federal Government for 30+ years I learned that, without any exaggeration, 74% of your tax dollar is used for something other than government purposes. Not to put a too fine point on it, that money is diverted to private interests. It does not go to any government function. The bulk of the stolen money is filtered through the DOD for whom I worked.

On the average, people pay about a third of their income as taxes. Some of course pay a lot less. For example Lee Iococca, famous for reviving an auto company with nothing more than $3billion in interest free government loans (plus getting rid of the prime paint coat on automobiles then blaming the peeling paint on environmental regulations, a scam that is still being used in diverse expanded schemes)

paid less than ten dollars income tax last year an a multi-million income. People working at the bottom of the ladder paye less income tax than average too (though a higher rate than those at the top).

So, it seems that the idea that manages to make it to the surface every now and then of a flat tax of 15% or less would run the government quite well, there just wouldn't be the money hemorage into private pockets that we have now.

  5. Any and all taxes are too high. If you want to freely give money to the government then OK but do not make me pay if I don't want to.

  6. Considering that Israel has a 70% income tax and is a successful democracy, I would say that we're a long way from there.

  7. "Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society."- Oliver Wendall Holmes

  8. when you start work is when it DOES.

  9. well the government is supposed to work for us, and our taxes are supposed to go to the government to fund programs and such for us, so as long as we are getting the money back taxes cant be too high.

in some european countrys  taxes are something like 40% of your salary, but you get more paid vacation, free medical care, if you have a child a free nanny, etc......

they have less money to spend on what they want, but the taxes they pay go to services for the people

for thoes who say taxes shouldnt be mandatory, when you call 911 because your house is on fire or you have a heart attack, do you want the operator to first check to see if you decided to pay taxes (which pay for police, jails, ambulances, and fire stations) before sending help?
