When are the belmont stakes EXACTLY?

the belmont stakes are on saturday june 7th and ABC is saying is starts at 5:00 eastern time, but anyone with past knowledge of how these races run do u think it will be closer to like 5:15 or even later? u know how sporting events go with their "supposed" starting times. its because im on a little bit of a time crunch but i wouldnt miss this race for the world

Look for a 5:25 to 5:35 post time.

I heard 5:25 on the radio. I know I cancelled a horse show just to stay and watch it. My grandparents from OK and AZ are HUGE racing fans and are coming to NY to watch it with me!! I hope Big Brown wins!!!

I am not sure. My guide shows from 2:30 - 4:00 but I dont get off work until 2. So I am hoping that the race is not until 230-3

What matters in Horse Racing is POST TIME.  That's when they meander out to the gate.

The pre-race coverage starts at 5.  I would guess the actual start of the race won't be until a little after 6:00 by the time they saddle up, walk in, and get into the gate.

You don't have to worry you have plenty of time.  ABC coverage begins a 5 eastern but the post time of the Belmont Stakes is 6:25 pm eastern.  It is the 11th race on the Belmont card Saturday.  With all of the pundents having to state their opinions, and all of the interest in the Race, ABC just wants to start early so it can sell lots of Advertising slots!  Good luck and I hope you pick a winner!
