  1. there are millions of galllons of oil in the alaska part, if not billons, but stupid eviromentalist, wont lets us to save some dumb deers and stuff,

it will suplly us with oil for like the next 30 years, by then we'll have some kind of other alternative for fuel,

i say we drill here, and offshore,

we and the rest of the world are all depending on the mid-east, we all know were not friends with them, they could raise the price and we'll all have to pay at some point, even if u dont drive, any food or goods will go up in price to cover the cost of transporting it,

  2. When are they going to start drilling?  1859 - Titusville, PA.

The Oil companies are already drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, The Arctic(1), and the North Atlantic.  Just not the companies subject to the jurisdiction of the US Congress.

If you are into classic movies, I suggest you watch "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House".  It is a 1948 American comedy film starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy.

In the film, they need to drill a well for water.  The well is drilled deeper and deeper at great expense looking for water.  Later, the contractors have to plug a bubbling spring they accidentally open while digging the basement for the house, making the earlier drilling a costly waste of time.

Just because land is open for drilling, doesn't mean there is oil there.

Maybe they ought to do drilling leases like Drug Patents.  Give the operator fourteen years of exclusive production from the point when they first strike oil.  Then lease out adjacent tracts to the highest bidder(s).

Katrina banged up a lot of stuff, but none of the hundreds of offshore wells in the Gulf of Mexico leaked.  We can drill wells with minimal environmental impact.  The problem is in Washington.

$12/gallon gas could be coming.  Can you afford it?

Plan A = Tax Here, Tax Now...

Plan B = Drill Here, Drill Now...

  3. Just as soon as mother nature, puts enough oil there

To be cost effective to drill for.

You drill where the oil is, not just where Congress says you can drill.

    Drilling is hugely expensive.

Why spend 50 billion dollars, to drill 40 billion dollars worth of oil ?

  4. The reason that they are not drilling on land they already hold leases on is because there is no oil there or it is currently not cost effecitve to get it out.. The government gives the oil companies leases and they then explore for oil and other resources on it.

  5. I agree with Mr. Vote...USA- that's about it in a nutshell. But beyond that we need to develop alternatives, Jesus, it shames me to think of all the things that the Elite/oil monopoly have ignored much to their own enrichment. We can no longer afford to indulge them.

  6. They have been waiting with baited breath for the go ahead by President Bush who is himself an oilman. Look out wildlife and the environment, you are about to become extinct.....

  7. Politics keeps us focused on less than 7% of our oil (middle east). Places like japan (who we fund militarily 100%) and much of europe relies on imports heavily.

The problem is we do not have a free energy market. Right now, no 'small oil' company can drill and refine.

There is no need for the government protected companies to drill. There is no competition, and they can charge what they wish. This is multipled in force against us due to the value of the dollar more so than the corrupt aspects of government protected monopolies.

  8. man...they can make a profit (according to the gov.) on my oil lease in eastern ky. at 65 to 70 dollars a barrel...they drilled hit oil sent us a check in 1984 for 12.60 and capped the well...its a 57 acre site with room for 13 wells....there is no oil shortage!..none that isn't man made by greedy oil co's----we need to write congress and get this looked into!....both of my granddads and my father worked for big oil co's....they are liars and crooks!...i told all about bush...they are liars and theives!
