The main thing that upsets me is that they can genetically engineer food and not have to label it as such. I think we should at least have a choice whether we want it to buy it or not, but we don't even know. It just doesn't seem right.

The main offender, as far as I know, is the Monsanto Corporation.

One good thing happened though. Ben and Jerry's Ice cream was stopped by Monsanto's lawyers when they originally tried to label their ice cream as not containing Growth Hormone. However, things seemed to have turned the other way, as I have seen Ben and Jerry's and other dairy products which are now allowed to mention this on their label. Maybe someday the same thing can be done to label food as "not genetically engineered." I wish more people would have the courage (and the lawyers) to stand up to Monsanto and similar corporations.

its never gonna stop it will only increase in the amount of foods that are genetically altered, what genes are altered, and what food it ends up being a part of. YOU CANT STOP TIME< PROGRESS, the planet is going to soon run out of space to grwo food and house all the humans, so genetically altered food that grows faster, better, without fertilizer, without pesticides, it keeps longer, and grows in less space, ALL OF THESE ASPECTS ARE GOING TO BE VITAL TO YOUR SURVIVAL, and evey human on the planet

It has gone on in one form or another since humans first figured out they can grow what they always had to forage. Just because our methods have become more science based, will not stop it. It will ensure, without a doubt, that people will live better and longer in the end. Don't fear it because it gets a bad rap from the vocal minority. Look at it closely with an open mind and you'll see.

There is no such thing as food that has not been genetically modified.  When ranchers pick their best cattle to breed, they are genetically modifying the species by only breeding those with the most desireable traits.  When Gregor Mendel tested different pea plants, he was genetically modifying them by trying to get a special plant in result.  We wouldn't have most of our foods without genetic modification.  The better question is this: why are peaople so afraid of GM foods?  They are safe, in fact much safer than the foods we ate twenty years ago.  You casn't be harmed by hormones that are used, because they are species specific.  Genetica modification of foods is progresss, a step in the right direction, and an attempt to solve the problem of feeding close to seven billion people efficiently and safely.
