When are you considered an intermediate guitar player?

i have been playing for about 5 months, and i know lots of chords and can play pretty good so far. but every time a look up beginner songs on google, its is Way too simple of songs.

  1. I'd say when you can 1) play in time, 2) play barre chords, and 3) play full songs, all the way through, without stopping (whether or not you make a couple of mistakes).

    Using these criteria, I'd say it took me like four years to become intermediate, mainly because I just couldn't get the barre chord thing down. Of course, I started as an adult with basically no musical experience, and no talent, so your mileage may vary.

    Post a vid on YouTube and I'll tell you if you're intermediate. :-P


  2. Nobody can tell you how good or how naff you are.

    So...you know some chords now. So start playing around with em ...making your own songs up...whatever you want to do my friend.
