I am nearly 30 weeks and my work is asking when i am going to resign as I am not entitled to maternity leave.

I am sick of working already and am getting really big and uncomfortable right now ( as many of you understand) and think I will leave in four weeks. 6 weeks before I am due. We have to movwe house if not done by then already and set up all the nursery and I would really love some time to sleep and just put my feet up.....

What do you think>?

What is everyone else doing?

  1. I am at 29 weeks and still doing pretty good but if you are miserable and can afford to leave in four weeks there is no rule that says you can't.  If you can take some time off and just get some rest and get ready for the new baby.

  2. I can certainly understand how you're feeling and why you want to quit sooner, rather than later.  The last few weeks of pregnancy are not comfortable!  I continued to work up until I delivered, though, because I figured I could either be miserable at home, or miserable at work - making $$.  So... I worked!  I actually went to work the morning I went to the hospital...

Do what you feel you need to do for your family.

  3. If you are financially able to leave early then leave early - I would. Enjoy your time off as life will never be the same again...

  4. I was going to work until 4 weeks before my due date, but decided to leave 6 weeks before and it was the best decision ever. I have really enjoyed my time relaxing at home and getting the house ready. If you can afford it then take the 6 weeks, your baby may come early and you might not have got any rest if you leave it to close. Good luck.

  5. Most people take leave between 7 1/2-8 months Which gives you enough time for nesting stage and relaxation while it lasts.

  6. It depends on you. I worked right up until I was 11 days overdue and hadto go into the hospital to be induced. My whole mind set was I didnt want to use up  ANY of my maternity leave and not have enough time with my son! Yes I was SO TIRED! YES I was HUGE!!! BUT Im SO happy I had ALL my leave with my son instead of using any of it on myself. And My job is VERY Stressful and Im going none stop!! :)

Just really think it over because you are going to want time with your baby!! :)

    Take care and good luck!!

    OHHHH and CONGRATS!!!:)

  7. Whatever is most comfortable and financially acceptable for you and the fam.  I'm almost 37 weeks and have no need to continue working but it keeps me busy and occupied (I can't stand sitting still for very long), so I'm not worrying about delivery or if I'm going to be a good enough mommy or fussing about every pain, funny feeling or contractions.  There are days when I feel miserable and go home early but I always end up wishing I had stayed at work because it kept some of my focus off of my misery!  However, that's just me and we're all different.  I always encourage women to do what's best for them.
