  1. so as not to restrict the vision  of (blind) the driver of the approaching car that is coming (your way) in the other lane

  2. the other driver should not have to signal you to lower your lights, is so you should have already lowered them. to answere your question long before you blind the other driver.

  3. You are required to lower your headlights from your highbeams because of the glare it puts on the other driver.  It effects the oncoming drivers ability to see clearly, and possess a possiblilty of temporary blindness.  You must lower your headlights from the high beams anytime there is a car coming in the oncoming direction (towards you).

  4. when u can see the other car...cuz that means they can see you.

  5. Pick up a Driver's Manual at your local DMV office. I live in canada, and you must dim your lights 300 meters when approaching oncoming vehicles, and 150 meters when following vehicles.

It's a good rule of thumb to dim your lights for oncoming vehicles when you can see TWO lights instead of just ONE blur.......

  6. As soon as you can see the approaching cars headlights and not just the car...

  7. when they signaled you.. its by switching their headlights to high then returning it to low..

its a signal that you must lower your headlights

  8. .There is a required distance..but..it's not about requirement..it's about courtesy.

As soon as you see the light from on coming traffic....lower the high beams....because you know..soon afterwards...that car will be comin the other way....and we don't want any accidents ..or incidents of roadrage by the driver coming the other way.
