Do you report a change in income before you actually receive the income or do you wait until your total income has exceeded the limits for your case? eg, my caseworker told me to report my income if it goes over a certain amount, well that amount will not be reached until the end of the month, after I've already received my monthly benefits at the beginning of the month. I'm trying to do things the right way so I won't be convicted of fraud and/or be penalized. Thanks!

  1. I beleive it is 10 days from your 1st date of work... they will verify by a form your payments and all but I do think it's 10 days from day of first work.

  2. People around here don't worry about things like personal income increase...... They stay concerned with how to keep or raise their "free money" benefits.

You are obviously not from the deep south.....

  3. You need only to report it on your report. If you live in a county that has a monthly report you will get a report in the mail and you would enter the income on the form and your food stamps will affect the following month. With a quarterly reporting county you will get a report every three months. You are only required to report a change of address within 10 days everything else can be reported on the report

  4. 10days is the Law

  5. Your honesty is refreshing. I believe you should report your increased income the Month following the increase.

Your benefits are based on your yearly income. I was asked to provide a copy of my income tax return, I was denied because we made $360 dollars to much. These benefits are adjusted, Monthly in some cases, to account for changes in income.

  6. Report the change of income as soon as it goes into effect.

I believe that most laws state that it has to be reported within 30 days.
