When attempting an axel, is the left leg supposed to be in front of the right leg when in the air?

  1. Yes when you are jumping counter-clockwise you take off with you right leg in the air first and then your left leg lower. While you are in the air your left leg crosses over your right leg so it is in front.

The left leg should be infront of the right leg...like in a backwords 1-foot spin...I figure skate and am working on my axels now...my coach is a professional and this is how I was taught...if you are having trouble landing your axle, you can also try to do a waltz loop combo to get yourself used to the position you need to be in.  Good luck in your skating!
