  1. ive been to a few and gifts were given at them all.

you should definately take a card , my really good friend had an engagement party and received loads of things for the house she was about to move into with her fella although i only went along with the big gift thing because she is a real close friends but usually i think a bottle of winbe would suffice but i think it is nice to take a little something especially if the couple are laying on food / buffet.

  2. No. An engagement party is not a gift-giving occasion. In fact, a gift from anyone but a very close friend could be seen as encroaching; and thus to avoid embarrassment, even a close friend who wanted to give an engagement gift should do so privately.

  3. Maybe it depends where you live; I have always seen gifts at engagement parties; something small to say congratulations.

  4. No gifts are expected at an engagement party.

  5. No, it's not expected at all.

The only people that normally bring gifts are immediate family if they haven't seen the couple since they got engaged (like grandparents, etc) but even that isn't EXPECTED. It's really just a time to celebrate and share stories.

  6. No. People "only" expect gifts at their showers, bachelor/bacheloretts parties, any other showers and parties they want to throw in, and the actual wedding. Hope you've been saving.

  7. You're not expected to, but you should bring a card to say congratulations at least.

  8. I have never been to an engagement party that people don't bring gifts. I have never heard of that sorry. So i would say yes

  9. No Need for gifts at the engagement party, just take a congratulations card and buy a gift when you are invited to their wedding.

  10. Engagement parties are not gift giving events, so, no. Do not bring a gift. FYI- Bachelorette parties are not gift giving events either.

  11. I took a bottle of bubbly because I wasn't sure and was pleased I did because most people turned up with wine/ bubbly/ flowers/ chocs!

Just a token pressie will be fine.

  12. No. Just give gifts at bachelorette parties, wedding/bridal showers or at the wedding.

  13. Only if it is food/beverage related like a nice box of truffles or a bottle of really nice champagne.

  14. You are meant to give a gift.  I had an engagement party and everyone bought a gift or an envelope with money.
