  1. Around a good jog, 5 or 6. I don't find walking neccessar unless you want to walk for a long time on it or something. I don't recommend putting it at 7+ right ahead though.

  2. You should be at a speed where you can talk but not carry out a conversation. However, more importantly you should be on an incline. I like to walk at 4.0 on a 2.5 incline - it works for me

  3. Start by walking to warm up your body, after about 2-5 mins if your warmed up enough pick up the pace and start a light jog, and after another 2 mins of jogging increase to a run. Warming up can help prevent straining a muscle. Always change the incline on the treadmill too, in order to incorporate different leg muscles you have to up the incline. If you plug in the weight on the treadmill it will tell you the total calories you burn, if you dont then it wont tell you that part. If your of a good weight its ok to run for certain distances, if you have bad knees or are overweight and trying to run to burn off the extra fat, you can hurt your knees. So always take it easy so you can find your limits.
