Question:

When benching idk if im doing it right???

I use a machine one u sit up in it's not a reg benchand u push it out it works the same muscles but i was wondering like sometimes when it get's hard on my last rep i push my stomach out usally i keep it straight and sit straight but is it bad if i push my stomach up off the back rest while doing the bench press? or is it just as effective..?

  1. That's called arching your back, and it's not good. Some people do it, but they really shouldn't.  You should always try to have the best form possible, because form is so much more important than reps.

  3. I agree with Jon and Myles..

    Go for perfect form, and don't worry about the weight.

    Focus on lifting with your chest and squeeze at the top of the rep.

    2 seconds up and 2 seconds down. Always have control over the weight.

    This will come in handy when you ever start to use the free weights.

    When you see those guys looking stupid, lifting heavy weight with crappy form, looking like they are swinging the weight up or bending backwards to push the weight up, they are just asking for an injury.

    And any REAL bodybuilder will agree that form is more important than weight. Those guys that have horrible form can't lift the weight with perfect form.

    you should be able to do your last rep as good as your first

    and btw i think that's called a chest press
