like in the belmont stakes can you bet a 5 horse superfecta with just 7 horses?or does the race require 8 or more horses for this bet?

  1. In a superfecta you can box 4 or more horses.  You can box the entire field if money is no object.  In a field like that, if feel strongly about the top two horses I like to box those in the top two positions and then wheel all for the last two positions


  2. I don't think there will be superfecta wagering for the Belmont. It varies from track to track as to the minimum horses in a race for superfecta wagering, at Churchill Downs it's 6, at Hollywood Park it's 8.

  3. The minimum number is 4, after that it is up to you.

Every state varies in its rules on the amount of horses needed to run a super.  NYRA (New York Racing Association) rules says that Super wagering will be conducted on graded stakes with a guaranteed purse of $500,000 or higher (8 betting interests required).  This must be an exception because they are running a super in The Belmont Stakes.
