When booking hotels on Priceline how long do you wait to see if your bid is accepted?

I just used Priceline for the first time yesterday and I am very happy with it. Just curious about how long the standard wait is before you find out if your bid is accepted by a hotel or airline or car rental company. When I bid yesterday, I got an answer instantly, but is that normal? Thanks.
