When researching my family tree I have found that an Aunt was born in Ireland however, the 1901 English census shows that as a baby age1 month old and now living in England.

I cannot find her birth records in the BMD would the baby at that time have to have been registered in Ireland????

  1. The 1901 English census was taken on the night of Sunday 31st March. Any child born after that date will not be included until the next census in 1911. If  the baby was born in Ireland then that's where the birth will be registered. You can obtain the Irish certificates from here,

    http://www.proni.gov.uk/

For births in mainland UK you can obtain  certificates from here,

    http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

    Hope this helps.
