  1. When boxers win world title belts, they get 2 of them- one is for them to keep forever and put in their trophy case or do whatever they want with it, the other one is the one that they must bring to the ring with them each time they defend the belt.  If a fighter moves up in weight and wins another world title, he will eventually have to decide which belt he wants to defend and he will have to vacate one of them.  He will still get to keep one though, and if he didn't lose it in the ring, he will keep both, its just that he will no longer be the official titleholder in that division.  Evander Holyfield knew that he wasn't going to stay at cruiserweight any longer, so he vacated his titles and moved up to heavyweight.  He still got to keep them because he never lost them in the ring, but he was no longer the official cruiserweight champion.  The sanctioning bodies make you choose which title you want to keep, but with the Ring Magazine belt, you can have and defend both.  A good example is Joe Calzaghe- he is the current super middleweight and light heavyweight champion, and he can defend both belts if he wants to.  Thats why for his upcoming fight with Roy Jones, Jr. they are thinking of having 2 separate weigh-ins for the same fight.  First, they will weigh in at 168, and then they will have another weigh-in where they will be over 168 so that both Calzaghe's titles will be on the line.  If they do this, it will be the first time that it has been done since Sugar Ray Leonard fought Donny LaLonde for both the super middleweight and light heavyweight titles in the same fight.

  2. The championship belt is given to them as a trophy.

    They keep it.

  3. When a boxer moves up a weight, he doesn't have to give up his title as long as he is prepared to go back down to that weight to defend that title, However if they decide to give up the title in most cases they get to keep the belt, There is an exception for example with the British Title Belt. You have to win it and defend it twice before the belt can be yours for you to keep. If you decide to give up the title before defending it successfully twice and you fail to return the belt then you would get fined by the British Board of Control.

  4. Yes, they keep their belts, but just lose their "title" of being called champion for his/her respective division.

  5. no

  6. yes they can if they fight the mandatory fight at that weight. Most relinquish the belt to move up because they can't get back down to that weight in time. I think Joe Calzage kept his middle weight belt but fought as a light heavyweight. So if you move up to that weight to stay then yes you will lose your belt but if you are just moving up temporary then there is a chance you keep the belt.

  7. yes they do

  8. yeah but they are not the champion as they give up there title at that weight. but keep the beat keep as its theres.  they pay to much to fight for
