When boxing do you want heavier gloves?

When you box do you want heavier or lighter weight gloves?

Or is just a personal preference?

the weight of the gloves depends on the weight division, the higher the boxer's weight division the heavier the gloves..

You want to use light gloves on the bag unless your tying to get faster or become a bigger puncher 8oz 12oz 14oz thats what you use on the bag and pads. 16oz those are for sparring becasue they have alot of padding

lighter or heavier gloves has nothing to do with preference. the gloves weigh less as the weight level goes up and they are bigger and weigh more with lower weight divisions.
