If I buy furniture in central Mexico, bring it into the USA, then try to move it to Baja when I move the rest of my household, will I be required to pay VAT? Would it be exempt from the total value I am allowed to move?

  1. Keep your receipts, this may help you. They are big on having receipts in customs, and if they see that you bought them in Mexico, they may give you a break. We have rental condos there, and often bring goods into the country from the US, and they often want receipts for the items. Also, for some reason, if they are used, they don't seem to care as much as the new items. They have often let us go if they know we have condos in Mexico. Are you asking about paying to bring your US furniture, also? I'm not sure about your existing US furniture, but any receipts you have help. Maybe because your existing furniture is used that will help, I'm not sure. Hope this helps- if you have questions, email me at condo@beachcondocancun.com
