  1. There are always back up flames where ever the torch goes. When the torch traveled to china it traveled inside a lamp on plane rides and such. There is also a hidden backup flame inside the torch that is carried. All back up flames are derived from the original torch lit in Olympia Greece.

  2. It has been known to extinguish in high winds etc but it is quickly re-lit.  Transportation in planes etc is usually via a special container which allows it to remain alight.

  3. They do put it out because they cant take it on planes and stuff but they always have 1 or 2 back ups for the runners in the chase cars incase it goes out but when they go on planes and stuff they relight it when they get off but the key thing is that they always light it with the sun using magnifying glasses and stuff.

    Hope this helps!
