I'm with Natwest.

They told me I can only apply in September...but when in September? (Yes, I know I should've asked then but I was in a rush!)

& can I apply for the maximum amount straight away?

Thanks in advance. :)

  1. When your course starts in September, surely you know the date when you start?

  2. You take your UCAS acceptance letter to the bank and they'll do it for you then. Most banks have increments for each year you're at university, so it may be 1000 first year 1200 second 1500 third, although i wouldn't recommend getting the full amount at once!

  3. When you receive confirmation of your course start date, take it into the bank and tell them you want to open a student account. They will take the letter as confirmation of your course and should open an account for you then and there (some banks ask that you make an appointment). I have several friends who have done this and they haven't had any problems, despite their course not starting for several weeks. Natwest and HSBC are currently at the top of the list for student accounts.
