When can I expect to see my Pell Grant funds?

I attend Cy-Fair college in houston. I wanted to know if anyone has ever received grant money and how long does it take before I can expect to receive it?

From my experience, the money goes to your school, usually a week before classes start. The money is used to pay for your tuition, fees and any other balances you have, then if there is money left over it is given to you for books and other expenses. If you don't have it a week before classes I would check with the financial aid dept and make sure there is nothing on your part that you need to do (such as turn in any other forms). Every University handles this in a different way. However, the person above me is right about that.

If there is any money left over you will receive a refund check. When that happens depends on your university. I would call Financial Aid and ask about that.
