  1. The residual for a non selective herbicde (round-up) is usually 48 hours. There are stronger chemicals but you have to have a liscence to get them but if you read the label it will usually say. I always give atleast 2 days to replant grass after spraying it. The most important thing is to make sure that the old grass was cut all the way to the ground though to recieve optimal results for the desired control. You are trying to kill the root system not the blade that you see.

  2. best thing to do is to find out off the bottle and contact the manufacturer. I am an organic farmer and don't trust chemical herbicides at all. If you can avoid them it is best cause I have seen lab results of plants grown in soil treated with weed killers and they had traces of the herbicide in them. Little bit scary.

  3. Best  is after a good rain, and then turn the soil over.  Most weed killers are neutralized after being absorbed into the roots of weeds and grass.  If no rain in sight water very heavy and then turn over.

  4. I would wait a week or so , depending on what type of killer you used , either a simply roundup or something like a ortho ground clear(which kills up to 1 year).I doubt watering would have any effect since they water proof withen 10 mins of application. However just waiting it would for a week or two would allow it to be absorbed into the soil and wear off.
