  1. I bring my coming 2 yr olds in, trim them, ride them for a couple weeks, turn them out for 2 weeks, bring them back in and shoe them before conditioning.  It's worked well for the past 10 years and I haven't experienced any hoof problems.

  2. It depends on how old your horse is. If he is young you should just start by trimming the hooves. If he is of riding age it is ok to shoe him now but you need to update the set of shoes on him every 6 to 8 weeks.

  3. Call Al Bundy, he can do it!!

  4. as a yearling

  5. As soon as you start trying to ride the horse it should be shod. I recommend not before eighteen months. Start out leading it around with a blanket across its back and work up to a fifty pound sack of feed. Then do it with a saddle. Finally start stepping in the stirrup and stepping down when it accepts this without startling, try swinging up into the saddle. If it objects get down and try just laying across the saddle a few times. This way the animal gets used to the moves and is not broken in spirit but learns to accept you as a partner not a predator because most predators that a horse has to worry about attack by jumping on them from above.

  6. anytime u want. as long as u want to go out onto the road most of the time its good to get them fitted.
