When can I start my renewal process for my portugal passport?

if you plan on traveling soon in the near futur? 6 months is the minimum you should have left on validity in your passport, if you were to wait 6 months? and later on, let's say? a month later you wanted to travel? you would not be able to leave the country, so do it now ...

you may have an emergency, so get it renewed before you only have 6 months left of validity on your passport , better be safer than sorry .

Considering processing time I would start about nine months before it expires. Most countries require that your passport will not expire within six months before you travel.

Renew your passport even when it is not yet expired when you will be leaving within six months.
