When can I volunteer at a animal shelter??

I am between the ages of 12 and 13.I don't wanna give out my age.I really want a puppy.So I was thinking maybe this would help me show her i am responsible.Please help.Or give me some ideas on how to show her if I am to young.thank you.

  1. Most shelters require people to be 16 years or older.

    However talk to your parents and see if they're ok with fostering a dog temporarily, as foster homes are needed by the shelters and the rescue groups.  It won't be 'your' dog, but you'll have one for a few weeks to a few months.


  2. Hey why not try walking dogs for your neighbors  This can be fun and also very profitable.

  3. It really depends on your shelter. I'd call and ask. My local shelter allows volunteers at 14. Some do at 16, while a lot allow them at 18. However, my shelter lets kids under 14 to volunteer IF they need community service hours.
