My daughter is 18 months and I was wondering at what age can a small child or toddler eat onions in some of her food?

  1. Well, in very small amounts I think it would be fine to give them to her now, as an added flavor to food. It also depends if she'll even like them. I think mine were about 2 before they actually ate some onions in vegetable rice or something.

  2. No proplem giving any age onions! They just may not like them!!!

Have fun with food - our 18 month old daughter eats everything and anything including stuffed olives and play sand!

  3. onions are not a common allergen but they do have a strong flavor and can make kids gassy.  There really isn't an age limit, kids can eat them at any time they are able to physically do so (they can chew); some kids may not like the odor or flavor, but you can go ahead and try giving your daughter some now and see if she likes it.

  4. well be carefull with onions make sure they are small and added into something also in rare cases such as mine the child can be highly and severely allergic

In my case if i eat a small piece of onion my airway instantly swells shut and i go into anaphylatic shock

like i said its rare but lately prematurely born children are at a higher risk

other than the fact that any food you give a child it can be allergic too onions are fine at any age if your child has a food allergy with a fruit then check with your doctor to make sure that the fruit and onion arent to similar
