  1. Find out from the consulate or embassy, he must ask the embassy, he may need a lawyer, but waiting time is very long at best for some countries, supply and demand, you may need to get married, before you can sponser him.

If possible have him come on F1 visa if possible get married and sponser him for adjustment of status.

  2. I agree with dryheat. You will get your certificate at your ceremony. You can use a photocopy of that as proof of your US citizenship to submit the petition I-129f for your fiance.

Then use your original certificate to apply for your US passport (back up proof of citizenship).

Keep a photocopy for yourself. Don't worry, the passport office WILL return your original. :)

Congratulations.. oh, and I vote for dressing nice at the ceremony.. like for a nice job interview. :)

  3. If you are about to become a naturalised American - you get the certificate AT the oath-taking ceremony.

So if your fiance wants to apply for a visa, based on your citizenship (not sure if he can, or what type he can apply for), I guess it'd be after both the oath-ceremony and getting your certificate.

NOTE : I STRONGLY recommend you start your passport process at that time. Getting a US passport can take so long these days & it's better to have one & not need it, than not have one when you need it.

  4. you can apply for a fiancee visa if:

    a) you are a US Citizen

    b) you have evidence that you've met your fiancee in person

    c) you have all the requirements to petition
