When can i start doing crunches after hving a baby?

i had a baby 10 days ago and i was wondering how soon i can start working on the tummy,, i feel fine and had no complications.

  1. At your 6 week check up ask your doctor if you are ready. Everyone heals differently so you may or maynot be ready. Your OB will know if you are though!


  2. i'd give it a couple more weeks at least, preferably until after your 6 week checkup. ask your doc to be sure- and when you do start them, you need to make sure that you are lying flat and only slightly lifting your head/shoulders off the ground. don't come up farther or do any that involve lifting your hips or legs, as they can cause the separation of your abdominal muscles to stay the same or get worse. watch your stomach as you crunch, if it starts to bulge up at all, you are going too far.

    i know you are anxious to get your body back. i'm the same way- i'm three weeks postpartum and wanted the weight and tummy gone right after birth. but walks are about the most you want to do before that 6 week checkup.
