When can i tax my car?

if i tax my new car on wednesday 27th august 2008 will it be taxed as september or will i loose money cause they may tax it as august and there is only 4 more days till the end of the month.if i will loose money when shall i tax it for it to be taxed for september.but i need it taxed as soon as possible.

if u dont have any tax then i suggest u get the tax today! or ul lose more than jst a few days from the tax disc! u cud be fined  & have points added to your licence

it will be taxed from when your old one expires or if you dont have an old one then itll be from beginning of september

If you tax it today you'll pay for the month of August.  Leave it until September if you're not driving it.  If you are and get stopped you could claim your application was in the post but that's a risk - you could lose your car.

If it is a brand new car there is a facility to tax from part way through the month.

If it is a used car then you have 2 options.  To use the car immediately you will have to tax it effectively from the first of August.

Option 2 is to delay picking it up until 1 September and tax from then.  Remember you need an MOT if more than 3 years old and it must be insured to tax it.  You could be fined and have the car crushed if caught driving an untaxed car and there are numberplate recognition cameras set to catch Tax dodgers.
