My little sister was born in 10/15/03 and my mom is going to wait, awhile before she starts her in school. She thinks that it will make school easier for her, because she will be more mature than if started early. We practice at home regularly, like the ABC's and counting to 20, she can even spell her first name. She will be one of the smartest kids in her class, and sometimes being the oldest of your friends can make you cool. (In grade school especially.)  My mom wants to wait another year.

Check with your district, where I live they have to be 5 years old at a certain cut off point ie: by December 10.

Also check out the kindergarten, there is so much that kids are learning these days, that you may want to find out if kindergarten is right for your kid or if you wanted to wait a year, ie: until they are 6 years old.

Next school year.  he will fall a year behind, like my son, because of his birthday being after the Sept. deadline.  However, he can start Pre K this year

it really depends in the county and state you live in.

the normal age for kids to start pre- k is age 4

and the normal age to start kinder garden is age 5.

So your son should be starting PRE-K in September or August whenever the school year starts this year for 2008-2009.

And in the school year of 2009-2010 (next year) he should start kinder garden.

in most states he won't be able to start school under Next school year.  My daughter was born 11/18/02 , which currently makes her over 5 1/2 yrs old. She's just starting kindergarten this august.  In the state of Md a child has to turn 5 yrs old for kindergarten on or before August 31 OR up to 45 days after that date if they are ready for kindergarten.   .
