When can the ceiling fan be used in the same room as a preemie?

My nephew is 8 weeks old now. He was six weeks early and is still on an apnea monitor. My sister was told not to use the ceiling fans and to keep him out of the wind by her doctor. Is this to prevent him from getting cold and/or does it have anything to do with his breathing? We are just wondering when the fans can be turned back on?

  1. it probably has something to do with his breathing.  i've heard that a normal sized baby can lose their breath in a car if the windows are down.  i would just keep checking with the doctor to be sure.

  2. I would probably wait until at LEAST 6 months...it's to prevent colic and yea it would affect his breathing. You may just have to turn the a/c down a little bit more to compensate for not having the fan on.

  3. ids say 5 or 6 months.it because the catch their breath. my son just stopped catching his breath and hes 5 months old. you will know when the time is right. when he stops catching his breath thats when. if you blow in his face(it wont hurt him) you will know if he catches his breath or not.
