I was just wondering when we would be able to file for the extension- I was let go from a job after being there for 14 years because of "downsizing" and my unemployment ran out in november and i haven't found another job yet- the job market sucks now!!!! But the 13 week extension would really help out but i haven't heard much more about it. any info. would be helpful- thanks!!!

  1. Check with your state.  It's probably next week when you can file.  Your state website might have more info available.

Keep looking for a new job, and good luck.....

  2. if you are entitled to the extention, you will receive a application in the mail, this was stated when word came out about the extention, so it is a waiting game, but will not take long, so wait for your application, hope this helped you out,  and stay updated on your paper work thru unemployment agency,  good luck!

  3. You know what? The people in Alabama really are "Bamas". I just called my state's unemployment agency and the lady I spoke with said that 'Yes, Bush signed the bill but it still has to go to the House for approval. Then it is just a waiting game. If I qualify for an extension.' I may not have a 4 yr. college degree but I have sense enough to know that when the president signs a bill it is final. What a stupid ^&%$. With people like that working for the state I may not ever get an extension.
