When can you bathe your newborn?

Like in a bathtub I was planning to lay down that sponge bathtub down and laying him on it while an inch of water and just bathing him with a cup...he still has his unbilical cord and hes 5 days old is it safe to bathe him so soon?

  3. You can bathe your baby at birth or anytime thereafter with smoothe water baths with warm cloths and soft soap. But you should always wait to give your baby a bath being fully submerged in water until about 2-3 days after the umbilical cord severs. Remeber after it falls off, keep drying it with regular alchohol for 2-3 days to ensure complete healing and then wash him up and have fun.

  4. you can bathe him anytime! He'll probably love it too! With the cord still attached, be careful around it and try to keep it dry. You might want to use a very mild soap, if any.

    Sometimes a bath is needed, especially is they are still pooping meconium! STICKY STUFF
