how old sure your baby be before you start trying him on a sippy cup. My son will turn 3 months next week and I tried him on it and my step mom thinks that is too young but he did just fine like it was a bottle.

  1. If you think he's doing fine with it, just like a bottle, then just check with the dr. to see what he/she says about that. I would never think to start a 3 month old with a sippy cup, but if your comfortable with it, and your dr. o.k.'s it, then enjoy.

  2. acording to the information i've read, they suggest 6 months...but they also suggest that you do not use a sippy cup, that you teach them to use a reg cup. I personally started my son around 5 months on a sippy... they are so much easier then a reg cup for traveling.  i would think it wouldn't really matter unless your breast feeding.... as long as they get the nutrition they need, who cares where it comes from?

  3. I started at 6 months, the cup i got has a soft rubbery nibble. my baby doesnt get bottles regularly though, shes breastfed shes 8 months now. my niece is 10 1/5 months and still doesnt use a sippy, she just throws it at you and screams until she gets a bottle! all babies are different

  4. Yes, 3 months is way too young. A lot of the times babies his age are't even capable of holding there own bottle.

If I were you, I would try introducing a sippy cup around about 6 months- And even then, he probably wont be enthralled with it. Just make sure when you do introduce it that you keep working with him everyday so he can get used to it.

  5. I started my son on the sippy cup at 4 months and he did just fine...I was nursing him and he didn't take a bottle at all, so I figured, why start the bottle?  A lot of people gave me a hard time about it, but the truth is, you just have to do what works best for you and your baby.
