  1. no!, all you do is pump the compressor up to around 40 to 50 lbs, take off the rocker, pull the push rod out, compress the spring, take the keepers out, remove the spring and take the seal out. if you can get them, get the umbrella type, they are the best kind.

  2. Removing the keepers> If you lose pressure and the valve drops in the cyc you have issues>No it will turn it self when you put the pressure in it> Keep the push rods in order of the valves as they have worn the lifter and rocker the same> Don't mix them up>

  3. You don't have to turn over the motor however by rotating the crankshaft so that the piston is close tot he top of the strok you minimize the volume of air needed to keep the valvel up.

Tarnished push rods; Try some green scrub pads and a littel motor oil.

  4. I agree 100% with the first response but also if the piston is at top dead center and something does happen the piston will keep the valve from sliding to far down to be able to retrieve it.

  5. rrrrrrrrrrrrrr yes it makes sense

  6. Wow you guys are lucky. Back in the day when I couldn't afford an air compressor I had to TDC then engine and then feed a thin rope into the spark plug hole and pack it in there. This is what I used to hold the valves while I changed valve seals.

But yes the other guys are right. As long as the rockers are backed off it doesn't matter if the engine is TDC or not when using compressed air. It will roll anyway as soon as you start putting air into the cylinder.
