  1. There are not many things that can go wrong here.

Chipping is realy putting with a wedge.

Check you spine angle at address and make sure it stays the same at impact. If you bend further to the right at impact then you are going to hit behind the ball.

Look at you hands when you are at address. Your hands should not change throughout the whole chipping motion.

No hands in chipping. You hands are used for gripping the club only

    .

  2. You're most likely flipping at the ball.  Which means breaking down your left wrist and letting the clubhead pass your hands before impact.  Draw a line on the ground with a tee and set the ball on it.  Make sure your divot starts after the line.  This makes you contact the ball first.

  3. You're trying to scoop the ball and unlocking your wrists too soon.  Give it more sweeping action and less scooping.

  4. Keep the ball in line with your back foot and make sure to follow through. Put your weight over your back foor to centered. not forward.

  5. chipping is like putting.  Are you breaking your wrists when chipping?  This might be causing it.  Remember chipping is putting with an iron so use a putting stroke.

  6. Keep your head down

  7. Move the ball back in your stance, so it's even with your back foot.  Also have your shaft out in front of the ball, and hit down on the ball.  Hitting behind the ball is often cause because you are trying to sweep the ball of the grass like you would with say a three wood, in a chip it is really important to hit down on the ball, to ensure good contact, and to increase spin.
