i.e. line / . . . / . . . / line is that correct? or do i only use the ellipsis once to indicate that i've skipped one or more lines? i know i can only use the slash form when its 3 or less lines that's why i'm omitting lines.thx!

  1. simply a .. on the end of your first line is fine.  You do not need to indicate that it is more than one line, however, you should then note which lines you have used.  Thus, if you use line 1, skip lines 2 and 3, and continue with lines 4 and 5 you should follow your quote with the citation (1, 4-5) to show that you used lines 1, 4, and 5.
