When claiming miles to employer do I claim miles from work to destination and back to home or work?

the computer program my company uses asks for starting point, ending point, total miles, minus home to work. When i figure mileage 'back' is it only back to work or back to home? What's legal?

  1. The company can reimburse you any amount it chooses.  You will be able to deduct allowable mileage, minus any reimbursement from your employer.

    If you work in two locations in one day, you can deduct mileage going from one location to the other.  If you make a round trip between locations, you can deduct mileage both ways.  You cannot deduct mileage from your last work location to your home.


  2. Back to work, like it says.

  3. Commuting miles are not deductible.

    That is from home to your first office and from your last office to  home are not deductible.
