  1. multiply

  2. You cannot convert a meter to a kilometer. A meter is only one thousandth of a kilometer.

    1 m = 1/1000 km = 0.001 km

    2500 m = 2500/1000 km = 2.5 km

  3. to convert up a measurement, you divide, because you will get less of the bigger unit.

to convert down a measurement, you multiply, because you will get more of the smaller unit.
