The tracks are usually flush with the road so you could go the speed limit. But ALWAYS take caution when crossing railroad tracks.

Fast, the yard I work at there was 6 track to cross, all rough. When driving slow it would shake you to pieces. The fast I drove the better the ride.

I drove over them for 5 year in the same truck that had over 100,000 miles on it.

really depends on how rough  it dont take much to knock out the alignment you decide hit it hard and fast if your head hit the roof then maybe you might try slowing down next time

I've always been told slowly because you could mess up your car, but I for the most part don't think I slow down (oops)

Slow means more rubber to road surface.

Quicker makes the car less heaver on the road or track surface.

Giving a more floating effect.

Rough roads are better driven across quicker than slow.

The tires don't have the chance to return quick enough to the surface.

Shock absorbers aslo work on the downwards direction or return as well as up.

Rough crossings should be crossed slowly to avoid damage to your car's running gear.  Smoother crossings can usually be navigated at the posted speed limit.  None should EVER be crossed without first looking and turning off the music and rolling down to listen.

Do not trust automatic crossing protection (gates, bells, lights).  They are not fail-safe.
