  1. No, not usually. There's no need to if you are anesthetized. Unless they want to inject local for post surgery comfort.

If a patient is put under general and is unconscious, yes local anaesthetic is still used.  Imagine coming out from having teeth removed and being in pain as well as the ill effects of general anaesthesia.  It is better to freeze the area(s) being worked on so that they are still frozen when they are coming out of the general.

  3. Yes they do.  Even if they put you under they still get you numb.  For the chance if you happen to wake up (which don't get scared because it doesn't usually happen) they dont want you to feel anything.  They have to make you numb.  I know I am an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant.  I work with these patients everyday.
