  1. While Darwin's ideas of natural selection finally gave biologists a mechanism for evolution and common descent (many scientists immediately supported parts of the theory), it wasn't until the discovery of genetics that scientists began to fully understand and accept evolution.

Combining genetics and evolution enlarged Darwin's original ideas (and dropped others) and the formal union of these two areas of research in effect replaced Darwin's Theory of Evolution with The Modern Synthesis. This is the current model of evolution that is accepted by the vast majority of biologists, it was formalized in the late 30s to early 40s.

Another related scientific issue was the age of Earth. Evolution requires at least hundreds of millions of years. This wasn't confirmed till around the 1920s.

A new Evolutionary Synthesis, to include things we've learned since in the last 70 years, may be coming in the next few decades.

  2. Your answer is probably in one of the books your teacher recommended you to read.

  3. The idea of evolution has been around for longer than Charles Darwin. In fact, his father Erasmus, a professional minister, was a leading advocate of it before Charles even devoted himself to being a naturalist.  Charles contributed a better understanding of the mechanism behind evolutionary change - "natural selection".  This, and his later syntheses of other evolutionary concepts such as Wallace's biogeographic models, are his canon.

Darwin had not direct experience with genetics and never wrote about it (directly), though he clearly saw the results, and provided a better context from which to understand (the then unpublished) works of the monk Mendel - who performed the genetic experiments before Charles was even born.  Once these were published after Darwin's time, they would become the foundation of basic genetics.

Once selectionists (advocates of Darwin's ideas) began understanding genetics, the two models came together and gained wide understanding and acceptance in western science. Parsimony - an important component of scientific ideas - was the key, and the advent of genetic science gave natural selection a powerful infusion of it.

Deteriorating educational standards, however, have meant that evolution is actually less well understood by the average person in some western societies than it was 30 years ago.

  4. If you are really a student of Anthropology then go and find your own truths, or, at least help to stop Darwin's theory from sinking back into the swamps from which it crawled out of, because it really needs some backup.

  5. are you serious... It was never really accepted...  because people misunderstood what it was all about.. He talked about genetic adaptation and evolution... People were deep into religion and they wasn't letting that fly.. That would mean, that overtime men  evolved from a species that was unknown. If he had proof of  that, then religion would be thrown out because everyone believes there is a god who created us...The bible would just be a book of thoughts from generations of men. He published this book  in 1859 and still today we  draw a blank  when it comes to the evolution  of men because of the religious factors...big bang theory...anthropological theory on evolution concerning  primates....Society was not ready for Darwin's theory then and still not ready today...

but to answer your question, parts were accepted due to bio genetic engineering.... but that was in the early 90... since then... nothing....
