When did MP's expense allowances go ballistic, surely Churchill and McMillan didn't have the John Lewis list

Do you seriously think that neither pof those had their snouts in the trough?   The John Lewis list at least put some cap on things (however inadequately)

it's always been out of control...it's just nowadays..it's public!!  they should all be bloody well ashamed of themselves when fuel prices have rocketed & many of us are facing massive hikes in car tax....i hate ALL politicians right now!!

the public get the MPs they deserve basically. no one does any thing except moan. and MPs know! that the British public are 'on the whole' quite gutless. it has surprised new labour MPs just how much they have managed to get away with. you can even give their country away and tell them to shut up!! about it. as the French say. if the government ordered the British to eat their own sh*t they would do it. so basically MPs do as they like because there is no one with the bottle to stop them. quite why!! the British fought against dictatorship is beyond me. they seem to thrive on being trodden under foot and total obedience.
