When did Pokemon come out in Japan?

I have always been wondering when did Pokemon come out in Japan. I am talking about when the franchise began...So I guess when the entire series started in Japan. Could anyone supply a date in which it did?

  1. Pokémon was created by Satoshi Tajiri around 1995. It started out as a game then came out as an anime in 1998.


  2. The original game:

    1996, 2/27  - The first game in Japan (Red & Green) came out.

    1996, 10/15  - Pokemon Blue was announced in Japan (only became available to public in 1999).

    1998, 9/30  - Pokemon Blue came out in U.S.

    Th Anime:

    1997, 4/01 - Pokemon Anime started in Japan, went until 2002.

    1998, 9/07 - Pokemon Anime started in US.

    1999, 11/12 - The First Movie was released in US.
