  1. The Gojoseon Kingdom is considered the first kingdom of the Korean people, and is thought to have been founded around 2300 BCE. It lasted for thousands of years and extended into Manchuria at its height. Records of trade with the Chinese state Qi date to about 800 BCE. The Gojoseon were more organized and unified than the warring Chinese states, and therefore more dominant initially.

Although the legendary leader of the kingdom, Dangun, is said to have descended from heaven onto the Korean peninsula, it's more likely that the Korean people descended from migrating neolithic tribes that traveled through Manchuria, so the precise "moment of contact" between Korean and Chinese people depends on when you think they split into distinct peoples.
