  1. 6th millennium. in africa and Mesopotamia. its the worlds oldest alcoholic beverage.

  2. in africa i think

  3. Beer has been with us for so long, I understand that Adam and Eve were really tossed out of Eden for underage consumption of it.

Actually, it does come to us from ancient Egypt.

  4. Beer as we know it today is about 1000-1500 years old but mankind has been drinking beer-like beverages for 9,000 years or more, 9,000 years being the oldest proven example.  This directly ties in with wine as well.  Essentially we've been drinking a LONG time but the exact time at which beer became beer, wine became wine, and liquor became liquor is still heavily debated.

On a side note the 9,000 year old beverage was recreated by Dogfish Head brewery...

    It's pretty good.

  5. Beer is one of the world's oldest beverages, possibly dating back to the 6th millennium BC, and is recorded in the written history of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. The earliest Sumerian writings contain references to beer. A prayer to the goddess Ninkasi known as "The Hymn to Ninkasi" serves as both a prayer as well as a method of remembering the recipe for beer in a culture with few literate people.

Archaeological evidence suggests that the earliest production of wine, made by fermenting grapes, took place in sites in Georgia and Iran, from as early as 6000 BC. These locations are all within the natural area of the European grapevine Vitis vinifera.
