  1. Basically:

Technically 2001 was when 'initialization' started - they actually went there in 2002 (I'm pretty sure)

    Peacekeeping is what was believed.

It's turned into a war. Guerrilla Warfare or something (that means a group of people randomly attacking other people). Canada is trying to help stabilize Afghanistan.

It's not just Canada in on this. The British are helping the most next to Canada if I recall correctly. Along with quite a few other countries with help that isn't as big as the British but it's still a good amount kind of thing...

And as for should they still be in Afghan? That's like asking 'should Americans stay in Iraq?' - many different answers based on beliefs and such.

You can look up 'Canadians in Afghanistan' or something on Google. There's a Wikipedia page with the basic info too.

  2. Canadian troops were first deployed in spring of 2002.  Canada is a part of NATO and the leader of Afghanistan had requested the UN to help his country to drive out the taliban, which is where many of AQs terrorists are trained.

They are also there to help rebuild the infrastructure and to develop a democracy and to make it more safer for the citizens of Afghan.

Yes, Canada should stay to complete the job.
