  1. The first settlement of C. Columbus was ( after La Navidad, it was destroyed, located in Haiti ) in October 1494 in La Isabela (Isla La Hispaniola) now called Dominican Republic, and stayed there 5 months, then moved to Puerto Plata from where he and 1500 men discovered the island and created later the capital Santo Domingo ( Holly Sunday). Still you can visit the real first settlement.

  2. Guanahani was the name the natives gave to the island that Columbus called San Salvador when he first arrived at the Americas. Columbus reached the island on 12 October 1492, the first island he sighted and visited in the Americas. Guanahani is one of the islands of the Lucayan archipelago in the Bahamas, but the exact island is a matter of some debate. The problem may never be resolved, as Columbus's original log book has been lost for centuries, and the only evidence is in the edited abstract made by Bartolomé de las Casas.

The island was called San Salvador by Columbus but the name of the island was really Watling.
