The Chhattisgarh government has announced construction of a multi-storeyed building, which will house a library, an emporium and portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, to mark his visit to Raipur, now the state capital, in 1920.  

The building, to be constructed at a cost of Rs.20 million, will come up in the Kankali Para area, on a 1,560 sq metre piece of land. Mahatma Gandhi visited here during his trip to the area Dec 20, 1920 to build up the movement against British rule.
